Spain’s First National Siesta Championship – Could Narcoleptics enter?

ABC wrote on the 22nd of October about Spain’s first national siesta championship. The goal is to find the best napper in Madrid in order to revive the national siesta. Participants are monitored as they take a 20min nap in a busy shopping centre. The competition works by awarding scores for being able to sleep for the entire 20 min, extra points for unusual sleeping positions, snoring etc.

The competition is organised by National Association of Friends of the Siesta and “The mission of the championship is to spread the idea that the nap is something of ours that must be defended and practised, because it is healthy and good for everyone,” the association says on its website.

I wonder if you have to fill in a medical form before you enter the competition? The competition has proven to be such a success that it will be held again in October next year 2011.
