Living with narcolepsy: a personal journey

Xyrem – Sodium Oxybate?

with one comment

I have so far only heard and read positive accounts of narcoleptics taking Xyrem and Sodium oxybate. Extremely positive and  life changing. So when I came across this webpage I started to think about it in more detail. It is clear that any medication that people take on a recreational basis is bound to harm the body long term, but what to do now?…what do you think about this article from the Zombie Institute’s blog?

  1. Today, I have also by WOM been told about another Narcoleptic that had to stop taking Sodium Oxybate because of severe headaches.
I have always been a bit wary of medication and especially strong medication that we in general get prescribed. At the same time, I want my life back i.e. I want to get back to work. How do you weigh up the pro and cons? How long will it take to get the right combination of medication for me? It is tricky to try to be neutral and when all I want is a quick fix. I know that they don’t exist – everything needs to be taken into consideration: nutrition, sleep patterns, lifestyle etc.
